By creating the first breakbeat Kool Herc created the entire modern era of music. Most of the songs you hear on the radio today uses breakbeats either sampled or played laid over some type of drum sample.

o0o0oo0 my bad man. I thought u were asking if anyone knew any of the tracks by Kool Herc. I'm not 100% which tracks there are playing behind this interview. Those are definitely tracks from the early to mid 80s. I didn't really get into hip hop until the Fugees dropped The Score and Nas dropped It Was Written. I went back to old stuff to catch up but its impossible to ID every single track
Feb 15, 2013 Anthony Beeley Says:
wait, just watched this again, what about the track playing at 2:20 for example? some of the background tracks must be releases no? those were the ones I was looking to ID...
Feb 15, 2013 Anthony Beeley Says:
aah I see, I knew he never made records but I thought he was mixing other artists tracks, thanks for clearing that up!
Feb 15, 2013 Okieant Says:
Kool Herc never made records. He took beat breaks and mixed them together and let his rapper rap over them. Rappers started out as hype men for DJs
Feb 15, 2013 Okieant Says:
Excuse me. I meant to say, rappers were there to PROMOTE DJs. My bad.
Feb 15, 2013 Okieant Says:
Wow you're an idiot. Hip-Hop started with the music. Kool Herc was the first guy to take beat breaks, mix them together and have someone rapping over them. The rappers were there to prevent DJs. Then it evolved to where the rappers would try to out do each other. Then that evolved into the SugarHill Gang putting out Rapper's Delight. But it ALL started with Kool Herc. His style of DJing created a whole new genre of music. Learn your history before speaking.
