I have to admit that this would have been better if an instrument or vocal (singing) was used. That's the shortfall of many youtube vids. They aren't professional enough. You don't have to be a professional to match professionals in p[resentation, but so many presentastions fall well short.

I dunno, I might have been having a bad day. It sounds a lot better now that I went back to re-listen. Still, it's nowhere near hi-fi, but then nor is it priced to be. Probably very good piece for a beginning musician who is a little strapped. Cheers.

What are you listening on? I'm using studio monitors and this is OK.

It's a Shure SM7B, a dynamic mic, the same mic used on Michael Jackson's "Thriller" album. I have one, and I have a PreSonus BlueTube DP V2 and an ART PRO MPAII. Both are fantastic mic pre's. They give all the big names real competition.

There is not a lot in this review that can't be found in a brochure. Wouldn't kill you to put some solid samples in... not just "voice over".

i just bought one of these and i have a problem. when recording, during breaths or between words the mic goes low and it sounds like up and down recordings. and a compressor doesnt really help. any suggestions?

I'm trying to understand why everyone is wanting to hear the pre-amp. It's Youtube people Chances are you wont hear the difference anyway. I own one of these and they are amazing!!!

hello dude, can you use both chanell with the phantom on at the same time?
Aug 28, 2012 ITISolutions Says:
Can you power this with an outside DC Battery power source?
And could it be used for (shotgun mic) film work?
Are the preamps quiet enough to do studio Voice Over work?
Thanks!

its meant for beginners studios. either way, if you trust youtube sound for buying equipment, no more comment needed. anyway, i have a friend who uses this on vocals with SE 2020 mics and its sounds unbelievable! i have the vmp prom focusrite which costs 3 times as much, but if i had heard the blue first i would have saved some cash...

You should try recording a dynamic microphone! Most condenser microphones sounds decent on every pre amp! Dynamic microphones are the best option to try a pre amp.

Will this be good to get a good acoustic sound into a poweramp with out distorting? and also, will it distort at all in case i have to run my electric straight in?

is sm57 will sound good with this preamp?

It's a piece of AUDIO equipment. That means we came to this page to LISTEN to it. That fact that there is NO sound demo of the thing tells us either you're hiding something, or it's a piece of junk. I was gonna buy this thing, later on today, when GC opened up, but obviously you're already rich and don't need anymore customers... oh, well ...

I agree with the angry guy above: why the heck would you not A/B it? Telling us "I used it" tells us nothing, as we are not familure with your mic or the rest of your signal path.
Listing the connections is all you do here, one glance at a picture of it tells us that.

My experience: It sounds fine with a relatively high output mic, and a relatively loud sound source. But on quieter sources and / or with lower output mics (most dynamics) turning up the preamp gain leads to audible hiss. This is of course true with any preamp running near the top of its gain range, but it seems like this pre needs to be run cranked more often than others I own which have similar published gain specs. YMMV. 2 channels is definitely a useful feature in some situations.

it doesnt matter if we dont hear you talk at all..as long we HEAR how the preamp sounds....damn!!

He's right, though. Audio examples would be nice, there's little to none on this product. Not neccesarily your fault, but still enough to cause major butthurt on the internet.
